For agents
Load this page when: you need the limits of a plan, or you need to handle a limit error from the CLI, the REST API or MCP
- Read limits from the table. Never quote a number from memory.
- Stop and tell the user when a limit is reached. Do not retry.
- Reads reset on the first day of each month, UTC.
The table shows what the current Personal (free) and Professional plans allow. Older accounts can have different limits.
| Limit | Personal | Professional |
|---|---|---|
| Books in your library | 5 | 200 |
| Reads per month | 100 | Unlimited |
| Manuscripts | 1 | Unlimited |
| Largest upload | 100 MB | 500 MB |
| Publish to the marketplace | No | Yes |
Plans and prices are on billing.
When a limit is reached
A limit never deletes anything. The call that went over is refused, and the response says which limit it was.
| Limit | Where the error is explained |
|---|---|
| Books in your library | REST errors, code PLAN_LIMIT_EXCEEDED |
| Monthly reads | REST errors, code READ_LIMIT_EXCEEDED |
| A locked book | REST errors, code ITEM_LOCKED |
| Any limit over MCP | MCP limits |
Both the book limit and the read limit are per account. Reads reset on the first day of each month, UTC.
