# Reference

> Load this page when: you need to choose between the CLI, the REST API and the MCP server, or find a reference page

## For agents

- Pick the interface that fits the caller, then open its page from the table.
- Use the CLI from a coding agent, REST for scripts, and MCP for Cowork, claude.ai and ChatGPT.
- Read plans and limits before you plan a bulk import or a long read loop.

Trove has three interfaces to one library: the `trove` CLI, a REST API and an MCP server. All three read and write the same books, shelves and manuscripts, with the same limits.
